Here at home, spring has sprung, and I am working to finish my long term project on the Presidio of San Francisco which I love and am deeply committed to.
The work is coming along and I am rounding out the edges, editing and thinking about a home for it.
I just got back from spending the last couple of weeks in Delhi, India. It was an amazing experience. Everyday I went out, I felt like I was watching this crazy vivid technicolor hd movie. It was overwhelming, over stimulating and very exciting - every single day. You could spend whole days just sitting in the car watching the traffic go by. Buses, cars, trucks, tractors, wagons, rickshaws, auto rickshaws, motorcycles, bikes, pedestrians, cows, camels, elephants - everyone using the same road trying to get somewhere. It is hard to capture the scale and organized chaos of it all, but here are a few shots that I grabbed from the road. Grand theft Delhi would make millions!
I composed the image close and down low at eye level to distort the actual size giving it a bit of an unreal feel. It reminds me of some work by one of my favorite artist's Tracey Snelling. She does these amazing small sculptures of motels and houses with working lights and signs and then takes them out and photographs them in the real world.
I love the little discoveries you sometimes make if you just keep walking.....
